That's right vi. Not VIM or NeoVIM or Vile mode. vi. theres also nvi, bvi, elvis, they're all nearly the same, chances are your linux machine has one installed by default.
vi is a tiny program that gets you in and out of files fast. If you want to be a Hacker there's only one way to aquire Hacker cred, make rad shit for the community. vi is the tool for that job. It's an incredibly portable skill. Any linux machine will have vi or you can install it quickly. vi is less than half a megabyte. You can install it from a floppy if you have to.
getting it is easy and fast, learning it takes some time, but it's not hard to get the few commands you need, you'll pick up the rest as you go.
